First Annual Salute to Our Heroes

The first annual Cy-Fair Education Foundation “Salute to Our Heroes” fund-raiser took place Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at the Northwest Forest Conference Center. The event honored the brave men and women who have served to preserve our freedom and liberty. The evening was emceed by Houston Astros announcer Bill Brown and opened with the Presentation of Colors and Missing Man Table Ceremony presented by the 75th Division of the U.S. Army. Highlights of the program were performances by the Texas A&M Cadet Singers and Texas Singer/Songwriter Brian Burns.  The evening also included inspirational speakers, event co-chairs Edward Station and Ed Hogan, Justin Ray, brother of Jeremy Ray and Chairman of the board Fred Caldwell. More than 300 people came to honor our nation’s heroes.  Over $36,000 was raised on this first time event; proceeds will go to an endowment in the memory of fallen soldiers, enabling graduating students from CFISD to attend college.  The Foundation has awarded more than 3.5 million dollars in scholarships since 1970.
