STATION FOCUSES VOLUNTEER EFFORTS IN CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

Just because Ed Station does not own a house in the Cy-Fair area does not mean he does not call this community home. A large portion of his heart, extensive volunteer efforts and commitment to educational endeavors are concentrated in the growing northwest Harris County area.

A member of the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation’s board of directors since 2006, Station started contributing to the organization’s fund-raising efforts when the annual “Salute to the Stars” gala launched in 1998. He has been donating time and funding to the Foundation’s cause ever since.

“Whatever CFEF needs, I try to do my best to help out,” Station said. “I really believe in education and I think our teachers, police officers and military men and women are our true heroes. “

“I have been involved in the Cy-Fair community since 1988 and I plan to keep it that way,” he said.

Station said he is fully supportive of the CFEF’s efforts, and believes more people would join the cause if word spread deeper into the community about the Foundation’s commitment to raising funds for student scholarships and instructional grants.

“I think it is essential that we get more of the community involved in CFEF,” Station said. “We need to have additional events that involve more people so we do not need to lean so heavily on support from the great Cy-Fair business community.”

“In the end we would bring in more money for student scholarships, and that is what matters most,” he said.

Station’s own company – Station & Ayers Insurance Planning Services, L.L.C. – has been in business for 33 years. He brought in partner, Audrey Ayers, in 2000.

Station & Ayers, which is based in Clear Lake, has been involved in Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District’s school adoption program, CFEF’s fund-raising efforts and various other Houston-area charitable endeavors, including the Houston Police Department’s Blue Santa program.

“We look at the whole Houston region as our neighborhood,” Station said.

Station has two children and four grandchildren. Son, Jeffrey is married to Nicole, and they live in Katy with their son, Garrett, and daughter, Skylar.

Daughter Amy is married to Lee Urbanovsky, and lives in Austin with two sons, Blake and Chase.

Station lives in Clear Lake with his dog, Oscar, who was given that moniker because of his resemblance to the famous green “Oscar the Grouch” character on Sesame Street.

His spare time is spent doing volunteer work.
