A message from Executive Director, Marie Holmes

As December 31, 2008 draws near, we ask you to please remember the opportunity to make an end of the year charitable gift.Your gifts provide graduating seniors of CFISD the opportunity to attend college. In 2007, we awarded over $185,000 in scholarships to students and funded $100,000 to CFISD for instructional excellence grants.

 We accept donations in the form of:

• checks and cash
• charges to any major credit cards
• stocks/ bonds
• real estate holdings
• USE YOUR IRA!!!!!....... The IRA Charitable Rollover tax incentive, which is available through 2009, allows individuals aged 70½ and older to donate up to $100,000 from their IRA and Roth IRAs to public charities without having to count the distributions as taxable income. Make your gift now, during your lifetime, and see the benefits first-hand!

You may also consider establishing an endowment. Endowed funds differ from others in that they are truly the gift that keeps giving. Instead of the entire amount of the gift being spent outright, the total amount of the gift is invested. Each year, only a portion of the invested income earned is spent while the remainder is added to the original principal. An endowment is a perpetual gift because only the interest is used to support the Foundation while the principle continuously grows. Endowment Partners have the opportunity to have a lasting influence on the community and to honor or memorialize loved ones, friends, colleagues, teachers, or other individuals.
