History

Cy-Fair Educational Foundation was created in 1970 after community leaders contacted Allen Labay, then deputy superintendent of Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. Dr. Karl Bleyl, a Cy-Fair educator and science consultant, was interested in developing a scholarship fund. Allen Labay, Dr. Bleyl, Reverend F.J. Aragon, the pastor of Christ United Church, Jim Blackman, shipping manager for Foley's, and attorney Herman Mead met and agreed to establish the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation. 

The 1970s
1972 - The second CFISD high school, Jersey Village High, opens
1973 - CFEF awards a $5,500 scholarship to a graduate of Cy-Fair High
1974 - Jersey Village High graduates its first senior class
1979 - Cypress Creek High School graduates its first senior class
 
 
The 1980s
1986 - Langham Creek High graduates its first senior class
1988 - John Fox began the first annual golf tournament and raised $3,500
1988-89 - CFEF awards scholarships at each high school of $4,500, $3,000 and $2,000 (total of $9,500 X 4 = $38,000)
Money was donated from school vendors and interest from the CFISD activity fund.
 
The 1990s 
1990 - CFEF increases scholarship awards to $6,000, $5,000 and $4,000 for each of the four high schools (totaling $60,000)
1994 - Cy-Falls High (the fifth CFISD high school) graduates seniors
1995 - Annual golf tournament expands to 36 holes and nets $70,000
1997 - Windfern High School graduates seniors
- Hired first executive director
1998 - First Salute to the Stars held
1999 - Cy-Springs (the sixth CFISD high school) graduates seniors. Money came from donations, golf tournament, and interest from the CFISD activity fund.
 
The 2000s
2001 - CFEF awards each of the six high schools scholarships of $7,000, $6,000 and $5,000 (total of $108,000)
2002 - Commenced plan to grow permanent investment fund for undesignated monies.
2005 - Cy-Ridge High (the seventh CFISD high school) graduates seniors
2005 - Permanent Investment Fund has:
- $1,200,000 in undesignated monies
- $1,200,000 in designated monies (Cecil Hall, Adam Skinner Fund, BF Adam fund, etc.) Money comes from BF Adam Classic Golf Tournament and Salute to the Stars.
