This year CFEF held the 11th Annual Salute to the Stars gala on October 23rd. The black-tie event at Cy-Fair ISD's Richard E. Berry Center drew over 800 community and business leaders, elected and school officials. A check was presented to Superintendent Dr. David Anthony for Cy-Fair ISD's Instructional Excellence Grant program for $100,000, which is the money that was raised at the 2007 "Salute to the Stars" Gala.
This was an incredible year for the event that raised over $160,000 for the grant program and student scholarships, bringing the grand total to over $960,000 raised since 1998. The 75 teachers who were honored at the event were named Cy-Fair ISD "Spotlight Teachers" for the 2007-08 school year. Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union was the underwriter and has generously agreed to underwrite the 12th annual event in October 2009.
Each year, Cy-Fair ISD recognizes one teacher from each of its campuses - 49 elementary schools, 29 secondary schools and three special programs facilities in the 2007-08 school year - who represents a unique balance of skill, art, and heart in teaching students in his or her subject area or program.
The 12th Annual Salute to the Stars gala will honor Cy-Fair ISD's best of the best, teachers who daily put student needs before their own will honored by Cy-Fair businesses and community members. 'Salute to the Stars' is a primary example of our community acknowledging that it values our teachers and our schools.
