The lifeblood of our Foundation is the scholarships we provide to students in our community. The number and amount of these scholarships are dependent upon the generous donations of our partners and community. We recently finalized our list of scholarship recipients for the calendar year. In this blog post, we’ll focus on the InterLinc Family Foundation scholarships that we awarded. Continue reading 2018 InterLinc Family Foundation Scholarships

Awarding student scholarships provides CFISD students with an opportunity to achieve their educational goals. Although many CFEF scholarships are funded annually through endowments, increasing scholarships awarded in the future depends on the generous financial support we receive from the community.
“An investment in the future of a deserving youth is the best investment a person can make,” said Robert Adam, a CFEF donor who has given $1M in endowed scholarships through the Foundation.
In 2016, CFEF gave a total of 107 scholarships totaling $358,000; click to see a full list of CFEF scholarships, including:

About Endowed Scholarships
We call endowment funds “the gift that keeps on giving” because it is a perpetual gift, with interest being used to fund scholarships while the principle investment continues to grow. Click to view our endowment criteria, including:
- Endowments may be established in the amounts of $20,000, $50,000, $100,000, or more.
- Endowments will be named for private individuals, corporations, and organizations, in memory of and in honor of individuals.
- All endowments have seven years to fund.
- Endowments will be designed with the Foundation’s minimum criteria and may also include special criteria.
Our online list of Endowment Partners is always being updated; click to view our most current list of CFEF Endowment Partners.

When you sponsor a CFEF event like the B.F. Adam Golf Classic, or give a gift through any of our CFEF donation programs, you help us equip CFISD students with scholarships—but that donation is just the start.
Who is a CFEF scholarship student, and how does your donation impact their life? Today’s Scholarship Spotlight shines on two CFEF scholarship recipients: Jessica & David Claros.
Jessica and David are siblings and Cy-Fair natives, and each exemplifies the qualities of a CFEF scholar—hard working, dedicated, committed. Today both Jessica and David work for Caldwell Companies, but their journey began as Cy-Fair ISD students seeking financial support to attend college and pursue their dreams.
A CFEF Cecil B. Hall Scholarship helped Jessica attend Texas A&M University, where she graduated with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2007. As part of a ‘full-circle journey’, Jessica returned to Cy-Fair ISD as a teacher, inspiring her elementary school students in the classroom for seven years. In 2012 Jessica was recognized as a Spotlight Teacher of the Year; in 2013, she spoke about her experience as a scholarship recipient and a spotlight teacher at CFEF’s Salute to the Stars.
Since March 2015 Jessica has worked as executive assistant to Fred Caldwell, of Caldwell Companies; Caldwell is a CFEF Trustee and Endowment Partner, as well as a Foundation Partner. In her spare time Jessica likes to stay active, which includes training for and participating in triathlons. Jessica has been known to race for a cause, raising scholarship funds for the Outback Texas Ministry.
Like his sister, David’s path led from Cy-Fair ISD to Texas A&M. After graduating from Cy-Fair High School, a $7,000 CFEF scholarship helped David attend and graduate from Texas A&M in 2012 with a BS in Construction Management, and a minor in business. After college, David worked his way up at Palm Harbor Homes before being hired as a Commercial Real Estate Broker for Caldwell Companies in College Station. Today David lives and works in Houston, focusing on industrial real estate in the city’s Northwest-West Houston markets.
Quality education strengthens our community by providing businesses with competent employees and attracting positive growth. The Cy-Fair Educational Foundation plays an important role in our community’s success by supporting education. More than $850,000 in scholarship funds are available to graduating CFISD students through our Foundation. If you are interested in applying, but have not yet done so, this year’s application deadline is February 7th, 2017.
Since its inception, CFEF has awarded over $7 million in scholarships to more than 1,400 graduates of CFISD. Criteria for the scholarships available varies slightly, but the basics are as follows: activities/leadership (25%), academics (25%), and financial need (50%). To view a list of the scholarships offered, please visit our Scholarships for Students page.
With the scholarship deadline is fast approaching, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible by submitting your application online. CFISD has already given you a call as a friendly reminder to submit your application. After you submit your application, any supporting data must be submitted to your high school counseling office by February 14th, 2017 for your application to be considered valid and complete. Your high school counseling staff will provide us with your high school transcript and your parent(s) most recently available federal income tax return. Failing to provide this information will remove you from final consideration of our scholarships. If you have any questions regarding the scholarship application process, please call 281-370-0144.
We would be amiss to not mention our major fundraising event which will be taking place four days after the scholarship deadline: Salute to Our Heroes. Taking place at the Omni Houston Hotel at Westside, this special evening honors the brave men and women who serve our country in the armed forces. For more information on Salute to Our Heroes, please visit our website. We hope to see you there on February 11th, 2017!
Scholarships through CFEF make dreams come true for students. We will leave you with a quote from Susheela Amrita Patwari, who graduated from Langham Creek in 2004 and was a scholarship recipient: “Your foundation has helped finance one of the greatest gifts in life, education, one of the few priceless assets in life…” We are looking forward to receiving your application!
Salute to Our Heroes will be taking place February 11, 2017 at the Omni Hotel Houston at Westside. With the event a little over three months away, this blog will offer some exciting details about this special evening.
Salute to Our Heroes honors the brave men and women that serve our country. The funds raised at the event go to an endowment that enables CFISD students to attend college. As one of our four major fundraising events of the year, we are fortunate to have an impressive group of sponsors. Our underwriter is Joe Myers Ford. Our Major General Sponsor is Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital. Our Brigadier General Sponsors include North Cypress Medical Center and Station & Ayers Insurance Services & Consulting, LLC. Our Foundation Partners are Caldwell Companies, Memorial Hermann, and S-G Owners Associations. Last, but certainly not least, our Media Sponsor is Community Impact Newspaper. We still have sponsorships available! For more information, please call us at 281-370-0144 or visit our website.
Our keynote speaker at Salute to Our Heroes will be Kris Paronto. “Tanto” as he is affectionately known in security contracting circles is a former Army Ranger from 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment. He is a private security contractor who has deployed throughout South and Central America, the Middle East, and North Africa. Mr. Paronto was part of the CIA annex security team that responded to the terrorist attack on the U.S. Special Mission in Benghazi, Libya, September 11th, 2012. His team’s involvement was essential in the saving of U.S. lives and assets while fighting off terrorists from the CIA Annex for over 13 hours.
Tickets are available for Salute to Our Heroes: $50 for veterans and $100 for individuals. For more information on the event, please visit our website. We hope to see you there! The Cy-Fair Educational Foundation will hold its annual scholarship reception on August 2nd, 2016 from 7-9 P.M. at The Berry Center. The reception celebrates recipients and donors for the many scholarships that our Foundation provides for students to pursue higher education. This blog will preview this exciting upcoming event.
The annual reception honors current scholarship recipients and gives the recipients and their families an opportunity to celebrate the honor they have received. Likewise, it is an opportunity to thank our donors for their generosity and support. Bringing recipients and donors together is a great way to look to the future while also appreciating the past. In fact, 2008 CFEF Scholarship Recipient David Claros will be the guest speaker at the reception. Recognizing past recipients gives current recipients the chance to hear firsthand how recipients have benefitted from their scholarships.
The transition from high school to college is not an easy one for most students. Increased intensity of study, living away from home, and balancing multiple responsibilities is difficult in the beginning as many students adjust to a much different life. To ease this formative transition, the Foundation provides mentors to our scholarship recipients to help them navigate their freshman year of college. We are looking forward to our Scholarship Recipient & Donor Reception at The Berry Center on August 2nd!
