2019 marks the 10th anniversary of the Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational. Taking place December 12–14, the premier high school boys’ basketball tournament showcases 12 CFISD teams and 12 out-of-district varsity teams. In partnership with Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and Houston Methodist West Hospital, we welcome you to the tourney in a few short weeks.
Cy-Hoops began 10 years ago with goals to engage the community, foster community spirit, promote the sport of basketball, and raise funds for student scholarships. A decade later, these goals still ring true. The competition this year will be fierce. We continue to draw teams ranked in the top 25 in their district or the state of Texas as ranked by MaxPreps. Along with the 12 CFISD teams, the out-of-district teams this year include Aldine Eisenhower, Arlington Bowie, Arlington Martin, Dekaney, Dickinson, Killeen Harker Heights, Lancaster, Port Arthur Memorial, San Antonio Wagner, South Grand Prairie, Spring, and Waxahachie.
Beyond the entertainment value, Cy-Hoops is a great cause as funds from the event go to student scholarships so high school students can pursue their dreams. For companies that would like to support the tourney, we have eight sponsorship opportunities available. We also have seven advertisement opportunities in our program which is given to all attendees. Wainwright Dental & Associates, P.C., Spradley Endodontics, and Spring Cypress Oral Surgery and Implant Center are tournament Premier sponsors. Bauer Sports Floors will be our Bracket Sponsor while NAH Sports Flooring will be our Half Court Sponsor.
Games will be held at the Berry Center, Cypress Springs High School, Cypress Park High School, and Bridgeland High School. All youth who wear their school or team jersey get free attendance and court-side seating. The championship game will be held at the Berry Center on Saturday, December 14 at 5:30 p.m. Check the Berry Center’s website after Thanksgiving for the tournament bracket and see you soon for some hoops!
