2020 has been a year like no other. Around this time each year, our Foundation hosts a scholarship reception to honor the graduating seniors who have been awarded scholarships to further their education and pursue their dreams. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we made the difficult decision to cancel this special event for the safety of all of our attendees.
While we were unable to host our annual scholarship reception, we are proud that despite these challenging times, we were able to award $628,500 in scholarships to graduating seniors this year. We couldn’t have done this without the generous support of our donors and our community. For more information on our scholarship recipients for the 2019–2020 academic year, please visit our website. In years past, more than 650 people attend our scholarship reception. This event is one that normally brings together students, their families, past recipients, our trustees, endowment donors, sponsors, CFISD board members and staff, and community members. One of the many highlights of our reception is that recipients get to meet their endowment donor as well as their success coach.
While this year was a break from the norm, we are hopeful that we will be able to resume our annual tradition next year. We know that this is a special event for our recipients and all of our attendees as it’s a time of celebration for all of the hard work that has led up to the moment. Beatriz Flores, a past recipient, put it nicely: “May more students be blessed in the future from CFEF.”
