The lifeblood of our Foundation is the scholarships we provide to students in our community. The number and amount of these scholarships are dependent upon the generous donations of our partners and community. We recently finalized our list of scholarship recipients for the calendar year. In this blog post, we’ll focus on the InterLinc Family Foundation scholarships that we awarded.
InterLinc is a local, private company that provides mortgage services for those who are looking to purchase a home. They help you buy your new house with financial confidence by educating you on the process and guiding you through the loan application process. Buying a new home is a memory that first-time homeowners will never forget. Similarly, deciding to go to college is another unforgettable memory. Just like InterLinc helps our community purchase the home of their dreams, they are helping students pursue their dreams. This year, they have generously funded two scholarships in the amount of $32,000 each. The scholarships were given to two students who have faced hardships during their lives. The two recipients who were chosen both faced incredible turmoil throughout their childhoods and high school years but persevered. Their hard work and determination have paid off as they will have the opportunity to pursue higher education.
We’re confident that the recipients of the InterLinc Family Foundation scholarships will thrive in college and in their professional careers. They will become success stories just like one of our former scholarship recipients, Jeremy Crow. Jeremy graduated from Cypress Creek High School in 2000. With his scholarship, he attended Texas A&M University. His educational pursuits did not end after college, however. He returned to Texas A&M to pursue a Masters in Mathematics and then the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where he obtained his MBA. He is now an options trader for Merrill Lynch Commodities. His scholarship allowed him to make the most of his college experience by getting involved in several student organizations rather than seeking a part-time job during the school year. Jeremy was ecstatic to receive a scholarship through our foundation.
If you are interested in shaping the future leaders of our community, please consider contributing to our scholarships next year. We have several options available. If interested, you can donate online or call Marie Holmes, our executive director, at (281) 370-0144 for more information or to establish an endowment. Scholarships and endowments make a lasting impact. This testimonial from Cecily Norris, a graduate of Jersey Village in 2001, helps put things in perspective: “I, without a doubt, would have been unable to attend without your generous financial support.”
