Profile of a Scholarship Recipient

Since its inception, the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation has awarded over $6 million in scholarships to more than 1,400 graduates of CFISD.  The Foundation invests in Today’s Students ‒ Tomorrow’s Future by providing scholarship funds for qualified students seeking education beyond high school.  In this blog, we will profile a past scholarship recipient to see how her scholarship has impacted her education and career.

Screen Shot 2016-06-07 at 10.02.19 AMA 2007 graduate of Langham Creek High School, Erin Kasperek was awarded a $7,000 Cy-Fair Educational Foundation Scholarship.  After graduating high school, she attended Texas A&M University and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.  Erin discussed her gratitude for receiving a scholarship through the foundation:

“Receiving the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation Scholarship paved the way for my educational achievements and provided much needed financial assistance.  It allowed me to attend a university that I may not have otherwise considered.  For me, the support was not only financial, but it was also emotional.  I am proud of where I’m from and having the support of my community really pushed me to go the extra mile.”

Post-graduation, Erin began her career in the non-profit industry working with the American Cancer Society as a Community Manager for three Relay for Life events in the Houston area including the Relay For Life of Cy-Fair.  Following her time at the American Cancer Society, Erin served as Director of Organizational Development for a start-up non-profit called The Orphan Care Network.

As Manager of Community Outreach for The Houston Marathon Committee, Erin recruits, retains, and places 7,500 volunteers for the Chevron Houston Marathon & Aramco Half Marathon.  In December 2015, Erin was elected as an auxiliary trustee for the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation.  She will be a Student Success Coach/Mentor to new scholarship recipients.

With a scholarship from the Foundation, Erin has pursued her dreams and is continuing a successful career in the non-profit industry.  She has also given back to the Cy-Fair community through her work.  For more information on scholarships for students, please visit our websiteTo stay up-to-date on everything happening at the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation, make sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn!  Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s Future!
