Are you a hoops junkie? After getting so close to beating the defending champs, are you hoping the Houston Rockets finally break through this year? Are you pumped that college basketball is back? You don’t have to drive to the Toyota Center to see the action in person. The Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational will be taking place December 6th –8th and we have a lot of excitement in store.
Cy-Hoops is a basketball tournament that was established in 2010. It pits 24 teams in a double-elimination tournament. If you live in the area, it’s a great way to support the community as 12 Cypress-Fairbanks ISD boys’ varsity teams will be participating. The games will be held at the Berry Center and three Cypress-Fairbanks ISD high schools will participate—Cypress Ranch, Cypress Lakes, and Cypress Park. Unlike professional basketball, where a game can cost an arm and a leg, Cy-Hoops is free for all youth who wear their school or team’s jersey to the event. The goal of Cy-Hoops is to engage the community, foster community spirit, promote the sport of basketball, and raise funds for student scholarships.
The three-day tourney relies on the support of the community to put on such an ambitious event. The deadline to submit the necessary materials and payment is due several weeks before the actual event.
